Kazakhstan is home to a varying climate, though not to huge extremes. Summers throughout are generally hot in the daytime, especially in desert regions, with colder nights. Winters are usually well-below freezing and mountainous regions are often covered in snow for nearly half a year. Rainfall is not particularly heavy anywhere, but it falls the most in the Southeast of the country.
