The currency of Kazakhstan is the Kazakh Tenge, with one Tenge equalling 100 Tiyin. Notes come in denominations of T5000, 2000, 1000, 500, 200, 100, 50, 20, 10, 5, 2 and 1, and 20, 10, 5, 3 and 1 Tiyin. Coins come in denominations of T100, 50, 20, 10 and 1. All currency should be exchanged in licensed bureau de changes, and all exchange receipts should be kept in case they are needed by officials. It can prove difficult to change Tenge back to foreign currency, and the domestic currency is only available whilst inside Kazakhstan – visitors should bring US Dollars in cash to exchange. Traveller’s cheques are accepted, though to avoid additional conversion charges these should be in US Dollars. ATMs are available, and the majority of major international credit and debit cards are accepted in larger hotels, shops and restaurants. See: Visa: http://www.visa.com/atms/ MasterCard: http://www.mastercard.com/cardholderservices/atm/ The import and export of domestic currency is unlimited, as is the import of foreign currency. The export of foreign currency is limited to the amount declared on import, though more can be taken out with special permission from the bank. Currency Converter: http://www.xe.com/ucc/
