The buying process in Kazakhstan is a lot simpler than it has been in recent years, but still things can become bogged down with red tape and unprofessional conduct – choosing a reputable real estate agent will help the process no end. As is the case with all foreign off plan investments, a respected local lawyer should be employed to help with proceedings and make sure all documentation and land titles are in order before any sale progresses. Once a property is decided upon, an agreement should be signed by the buyer, seller and a notary and a deposit of around 10 to 20 percent paid. The details of the sale and applicable documentation are then sent to the local Land Registry for the title deed to be officially signed over to the buyer. This process was introduced recently in Kazakhstan and normally proves efficient and fast. As this process is being carried out the main contract for the property can be signed, and once the title is received the remainder of the monies can be transferred to the buyer. Once the process is complete, applicable taxes and fees can be settled with lawyers, notaries and the like.
